When the leading Taiwan-based AsusTek Computer Inc. launched Asus ROG Phone in June last year, it took everyone by storm for everything it had on offer. And today, Asus has released its successor – the next-generation gaming smartphone, the ROG Phone 2, at the ChinaJoy 2019 Expo, Shanghai, China.
“Just over a year ago, the Republic of Gamers infused our battle-hardened DNA into a phone for the first time ever. Now it’s time to power up and go beyond. The ROG Phone 2 incorporates everything we’ve learned from our first foray into high-end gaming phones and then some to create another pocketable gaming powerhouse,” Asus’ Jeff Kampman wrote in the official reveal blog post.
You would be pleased to know that six variants of the phone have been launched – out of which, four are now up for pre-orders on Chinese e-commerce platform JingDong Mall (JD.com). The sale begins on July 31.
The ROG Phone 2 is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 Plus processor, and features a 6.59-inch full HD+ AMOLED display with a refresh rate of 120Hz and 1ms response time. The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 6 and supports HDR-10 content. The touch sampling rate of the phone’s display measures 240Hz with touch latency of 49ms.
The phone’s base variant (Tencent Depth Customization) with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at CNY 3,499 (approx. Rs. 35,000). Another variant (Enjoy Peace in Beijing) with the same RAM and storage can be purchased for CNY 3,699 (approx. Rs. 37,000).
The ROG Phone 2’s classic version with 12GB RAM and 128GB storage is for CNY 5,999 (approx. Rs. 60,000), and a separate Enjoy Peace in Beijing edition with the same RAM and storage comes for CNY 6,199 (approx. Rs. 62,000).
The global launch of the ROG Phone 2 is expected to take place in September this year.
