Here's How Cross-Play Will Work In Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare

Indeed, the best gaming news you will read today!

The upcoming first-person shooter experience, developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is one of the most anticipated video games of the year. One of the biggest USPs of the title, slated to release next month, is that it will support cross-play across PlayStation 4, Microsoft Windows, and Xbox One. This clearly means that gamers on all these platforms will be able to play together in online multiplayer.

In fact, beginning September 19, you’ll be able to experience the cross-play multiplayer coming to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare for the first time ever with the second open beta. There’s more – Activision has revealed in a latest blog all the details as to how cross-play in the game will work on all three platforms.

Activision wrote, “With crossplay, developer Infinity Ward is ensuring players can experience together the badass fun of Call of Duty multiplayer regardless of system. This weekend’s Crossplay Open Beta will provide not only a great opportunity for gamers to have a blast together, but also provide developers important feedback as they polish for worldwide release next month.”

Wondering how exactly you can enjoy the cross-play open beta in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare? The publisher begins explaining that players can opt in or out of cross-play. Players must have a COD Account in order to access the game’s multiplayer modes. In case you don’t have one, you can sign up using your PlayStation Network, Xbox Live, Steam, or Battle.net ID through the Call of Duty official website.

“Using your COD Account, you are able to create cross-platform Friends lists and Parties from all three supported platforms. This unites the community by removing barriers, creating platform-agnostic friend groups.”

It is further shared in the blog that “players have choices on which control device they wish to use on any platform.” Activision signed off saying, “Crossplay supports all multiplayer modes in Modern Warfare. There are no plans currently to support Ranked Play or competitive tournaments.”

You can join the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare cross-play open beta at 10 am PT / 1 pm ET / 6 pm BST on September 19.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is slated for an October 25 launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
