While there’s been no announcement or confirmation for an Ark: Survival Evolved sequel, Studio Wildcard has announced two new hefty expansion packs, collectively called Ark: Genesis. Here’s the announcement trailer –
Check out some facts about Ark: Genesis –
FIRST SPEAKING CHARACTER TO ARK
Ark: Genesis is all set to bring something truly exciting! “For Genesis, we’re actually introducing our first
speaking character to Ark who’s with you throughout the game, in the form of HLN-A,” Jesse Rapczak, technical art director and co-creative director of Studio Wildcard, told PC Gamer.
HLN-A is a fully-voiced, AI companion, who will become your guide, providing you with goals and missions, and will highlight the story of Ark.
“So instead of just being a sandbox survival experience, Genesis takes that sandbox heritage that comes from the rest of Ark, but wraps it up with some direction on things that you would want to do to get through the story points, and tackle the final boss, and uncover the next chapters of the story we’re telling,” Rapczak added.
If all that description has piqued your curiosity and you want to meet this new character, here’s some good news – you won’t have to wait until December to meet HLN-A, as the season pass can be pre-purchased now for $34.99.
YOU CAN BUILD A HOUSE ON THE BACK OF A GIANT SEA TURTLE
Yes, you read that right. The new season pass will enable you to tame a giant prehistoric sea turtle and build your base on its back. It can swim and even dive underwater with your base. It releases an oxygen bubble to help you keep breathing underwater.
NEW CREATURES ADDED
Apart from the impressive addition of the sea turtle, Ark: Genesis will also feature a huge volcanic lizard, which can shoot pools of lava as an AoE attack on enemies. The best thing about it is that you can tame it. Then, there’s a tiny little character, which transforms into a gigantic monster once he comes in contact with Element, one of Ark’s resources.
As mentioned before, Ark: Genesis is a two-part expansion. While the final release dates are yet to be confirmed, the first part is scheduled to make it to the markets in December of 2019 and the second part will arrive during the winter of 2020.
